We are very excited to see everyone again, but we know that COVID-19 hasn’t just disappeared now that we’re out of mandatory social distancing. We want to use wisdom to keep our family safe, so we’ve created a plan relying on the medical community, CDC guidelines, and government officials to reopen as safely as possible.
Fist of all, streaming will STILL be available! Nothing will change about the way we are live-streaming our services, so if your family is more comfortable worshiping from home, we completely understand and will continue to do our best to create online community and worship.
Things will look a little bit different when you come back to church.
We will be opening the doors at 9:00 for the 9:30 service, and 11:00 for the 11:15 service. When doors open we will have greeters at the doors to let you in, and help direct you to an auditorium.
There are yellow dots on the floor to help you social distance safely, and there will be hosts in the Main Auditorium to seat you.
Once the Main Auditorium is full, you’ll be directed to the Kids or Student Auditorium, where we will be streaming the service.
You can help us by staying home if you’re not feeling well, following social distance guidelines while you’re in the building, and wearing a mask.
As a church we want our community to know that we are for them. God calls us to love our neighbors and that’s what we want to do with our community outreach efforts over the next several weeks. Some of you may be able to donate financially and others may not, but there are ways for EVERYONE to do something.
We are reaching out to our community in many ways:
We want the staff at Bergen, just down the street from Good News, to know they are appreciated and being prayed for! We have a 6-week plan to encourage and bless them. Many of them are staying at hotels to protect their families.
We are delivering notes of encouragement weekly. Please mail notes and cards to:
Good News Church, a/n Marcia Abell
7415 Hickory St
Omaha, NE, 68124
You can also give to purchase lunch for various floors at the hospital. We are working directly with the hospital to know where the lunches will go. Weekly lunches for at least 50 staff members would cost approximately $500 per week.
Designate giving to the Be About It Fund.
With care facilities closed to the public, many residents are lonely and isolated. Emanate and Kids Ministry are writing handwritten notes to residents of nursing homes, and younger kids are coloring pictures to send to care facilities in our neighborhood!

Services take place at 9:30am and 11:15am on Sundays, and 6:30pm on Wednesdays.
Even though we’re not in the same building, we want to connect with you during our services! Talk with our team in the YouTube chat during live-streaming, or connect with our Good News Family on Facebook here: Good News Facebook Group
Many families rely on schools for two meals a day. With schools out, and many businesses temporarily closing their doors or reducing workforces, many families are in need of extra help. In addition many seniors or immunocompromised individuals need assistance in acquiring groceries.
You can find a list of food items to donate, sign up to receive help, or sign up to help at the links below.
Reaching out to help others is the perfect opportunity to Be About It, be the church, and reach our community!
Please call the Prayer and Care office at 402.391.6515 if you have any questions.
While you and your kids are spending extra time at home together this is a unique opportunity to grow spiritually. There is no kids service or classes at the church, so what can families do? Some of you have lots of resources and are doing things at home already and some of you are searching. Here are some resources from Good News Kids and about a dozen of our families!
Our most important job as parents is to raise kids who are following Jesus and living on mission as disciples of Christ. We pray that God would give you patience and love for your kids. We pray God would provide the wisdom to talk about hard topics and comfort your kids in trying times. You can do it!
Our amazing Kids team will be interacting over the YouTube chat with kids during our Sunday and Wednesday adult services, asking questions and explaining things that are happening.
