Join us for a month of prayer and fasting and look to God for what he has for Good News Church.
1. Pray that Good News Church would embrace the “new thing” God has planned for this family of believers.
“But forget all that—it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” —Isaiah 43:18-19
Press in like never before to lay hold of the “new thing” God has for us. Pray that we would build on the solid foundation God has laid in the past, so that we would be even more open and ready to receive the perfect will of God.
2. Pray for a spirit of unity.
Pray Psalm 133: “How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony! For harmony is as precious as the anointing oil that was poured over Aaron’s head, that ran down his beard and onto the border of his robe. Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon that falls on the mountains of Zion. And there the Lord has pronounced his blessing, even life everlasting.”
3. Pray “not my will, but Yours be done.”
“’Abba, Father,’ he cried out, ‘everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.’” —Mark 14:36
Pray that we may have unprecedented, total surrender of our own plans, agendas, and old ways in order to be ready, willing, and able to follow God’s higher ways, in whatever direction Holy Spirit desires to lead us.
4. Pray that Good News Church would look to Jesus to meet all our needs.
“The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.” —Psalm 18:22
“God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church.”
Pray that Christ would truly be the head of Good News, a church that brings glory to His Name!
5. Pray that Good News Church would be dependent upon Holy Spirit.
“Then he said to me, ‘This is what the Lord says to Zerubbabel: “It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.’” —Zechariah 4:6
“And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit.” —1 Corinthians 2:4
6. Pray that Good News Church would understand the times and seasons.
“From the tribe of Issachar, there were 200 leaders of the tribe with their relatives. All these men understood the signs of the times and knew the best course for Israel to take.” —1 Chronicles 12:32
Pray that Good News would understand all that God is doing to set in place a new lead pastor.
7. Pray for God’s wisdom and greater revelation and knowledge of Him during this time of transition.
“…asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power…”
8. Pray that our eyes would be singly focused upon God.
“We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.”
Pray that our eyes would only look toward God and His plan for Good News, and that He would enable us to focus daily on His Word.
9.Pray for a pure move of God’s Spirit.
“The Lord replied to Moses, ‘I will indeed do what you have asked, for I look favorably on you, and I know you by name.’ Moses responded, ‘Then show me your glorious presence.’”
Pray that Good News would be a holy habitation, a dwelling place for God’s manifest presence.
10. Pray for the new Lead Pastor of Good News Church.
Pray that the new Lead Pastor would be like Joshua; faithful in serving Moses, courageous, one who seeks and inquires of the Lord and lingers in His presence. Pray that they would point people to follow God rather than man, and be anointed by God to lead God’s people. Pray that they would be someone who leads us to advance the Kingdom of God!
Pray that even now God would bless our new pastor, and that they would be consecrated and set apart to the Lord.
Pray that they would preach the gospel of the Kingdom without fear, desire to please Holy Spirit instead of man, be surrounded at all times by prayer and intercession, and would prosper and be in health in body as well as soul.
11. Pray for our board of deacons.
“Jesus said, ‘Take care of my sheep; Feed my sheep’”
Pray that as servant leaders in the church, they would be led by the Spirit to guide, support, protect, and love the church family. Pray that God would speak to and through them and bless their lives for their faithfulness to His body.
12. Pray and believe that Good News Church would be a city on a hill.
“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.” —Matthew 5:14
Pray that we would be a church that shines the light of God’s glory to all people, a place where people experience salvation, love, hope, and healing.
13. Pray that Good News Church would press in for a mighty outpouring of Holy Spirit on all flesh.
“‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. In those days I will pour out my Spirit even on my servants—men and women alike—and they will prophesy.’” —Acts 2:17-18
Pray that the Lord would confirm His will for our new Lead Pastor and the direction of our church through intercession, dreams, visions, and prophecies. Pray that our sons and daughters would prophesy and dream with God!
14. Pray for Good News Church to hunger and thirst to know Christ intimately, especially during this time of transition.
“Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ…” —Philippians 3:8
Pray Acts 2:42 over Good News: “All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.”
